The session will provide an opportunity for participants to review the GAIMME and GAISSE II reports and explore mathematical and statistical modeling and its role in a modern-day classroom. Participants will compare typical mathematical classroom experiences with a modeling classroom experience and discover the Iterative and interdisciplinary nature of the modeling process.

Lisa Ashe is a Secondary Mathematics Consultant with the NC Department of Public Instruction. Prior to coming to the state department, she has been a high school mathematics teacher, a school-based math instructional facilitator and a PK-12 District Curriculum Specialist.
