2026 NCCTM Annual Fall Conference

Dr.Hollylynne Lee has been at NC State since 2000 and began her career as a math teacher
in Dare County, NC. She is now a Distinguished University Professor of Mathematics and
Statistics Education in the STEM Education department at NC State University. Her interests
include teaching and learning of probability, statistics, and data science, especially
incorporating technology use and designing technology environments that facilitate
students’ learning. She works with teachers and students in NC classrooms as often as she
can, teaches about statistics and how to teach statistics to her university students, and
educators around the world that engage with her through in-person and online
professional development. Many of her former students teach in K-12, colleges and
universities in NC. This bring her true joy!
Hollylynne is the proud wife of Dr. Todd Lee, Mathematics Professor at Elon University, and
her two amazing children, Delta (20) and Jonah (17). Her family is everything, and together
they practice seeing and learning about the world through data every day!
Hollylynne serves on the NCCTM awards committee and was once a Vice President of
Colleges for the Central Region. She is a fellow of the American Statistical Association. In
2020, she was the recipient of the University of North Carolina’s Board of Governor’s Award
for Excellence in Teaching, and in 2022 earned the national-level Robert Foster Cherry
Award for Great Teaching, awarded by Baylor University. In 2024, NCCTM honored her and
her colleagues with the Innovator’s Award for the Preparing to Teach Mathematics with
Technology project. She currently serves on the National Academies’ Mathematical Sciences
Education Board and is a member on the consensus study on Modernizing Mathematics in
