Using PHET Make a Ten Number Simulator to Enhance K-5 Numeracy Skills

This interactive session uses digital number simulators to build numeracy through hands on exploration. Participants begin with a diagnostic task that reveals how students combine numbers using reasoning, as the simulator models correct choices and rejects errors. Attendees then practice place value routines for whole or small groups to identify and address gaps in number structure understanding.

Storytelling with Historical Data: An Exploration of Rosenwald Schools for Statistics Students

Learning how data becomes narrative provides students a deeper understanding of statistical research. Participants will dive into a historical dataset about Rosenwald schools and find the many stories and narratives which appear by using CODAP. Comparisons and relevance provide a groundwork of statistical intrigue which fosters a deep understanding of how statistics play into the world today.

Strategies and Tips for the ACT

The presentation will provide teachers with practical ACT test-taking strategies they can implement in their classrooms to help students build confidence and improve performance on the ACT Math section. Participants will explore multiple approaches to solving sample ACT questions. The TI 84CE/TI 84EVO will be the technology of choice; however, the strategies can be implemented on other platforms.

More Than an Answer: Using AI to Promote Reflective Math Learning

This session shares findings from a semester-long study on AI-facilitated student reflections and metacognition in Calculus I. Attendees will learn about a practical AI reflection framework, apply it, and consider study findings. Presentation is designed for any educator curious about AI as a thinking tool.
